The PROGRESS initiative involves the Group-wide conversion of all resource planning systems to SAP. This will encompass all processes in finance and controlling, materials management, warehouse management, production planning, quality management, maintenance and sales.
The company’s global growth and the limited functionality of the planning system implemented in Europe led to our decision in 2004 to harmonize our worldwide business processes and depict them on a common planning platform. In 2007, the ERP systems of our German-based Commercial Vehicle locations as well as North American-based Bendix, with a total of 1,800 users, were converted to SAP. These precisely planned, successful migrations, carried out with considerable commitment on the part of our employees, are part of PROGRESS, thus far the largest optimization program in the history of Knorr-Bremse. By mid-2010, all other European locations and companies will be working with SAP. Knorr-Bremse is one of the first companies to conduct such a complex, worldwide harmonization of its business processes across so many companies and countries. PROGRESS encourages our companies to grow together as a single corporate entity.
