Dr. Tim Frank and Mr. Lionel Jones from Inspired Living during their visit to KBRS
The importance if health and well-being has become increasingly significant over the last few years as people have come to realise the importance of looking after themselves, eating well and exercising regularly.
To support this Knorr-Bremse Rail Systems (UK) Ltd (KBRS) has launched a “well@work” programme with the purpose of actively supporting and encouraging KBRS employees to make small but sustainable changes to their lifestyle that promotes well-being.
The scheme has already seen a number of initiatives launched that support the well@work scheme three central pillars; Get Active, Eat Healthy and Health Support.
In order to support the programme KBRS have teamed up with professional experts from Inspired Living. Inspired Living was founded with the aim of raising one million pounds for Cancer Research and also to collect medical research to measure the effects of a healthy lifestyle on reducing the risks of developing various cancers and cardiac disease.
As part of achieving these aims the team from Inspired Living are undertaking a major cycling event from Winchester to Gibraltar from which they will raise sponsorship funds and collect research data. To support Inspired Living, KBRS are sponsoring the event and providing the team with a dedicated support vehicle as they travel trough the UK, France, Spain and finally to Gibraltar, as well as supplying Inspired Living and KBRS branded cycling gear.
The team set of from Winchester on the 4 September 2010 and will arrive in Gibraltar 12 days and 1,250 miles later. Inspired Living are also organising a mass ride for an estimates 1000 people from Winchester to Portsmouth in order to launch the event and give the continental riders a good send off.
